What are you waiting for, Jesus?

thoughts at the turn of a new year

Incredibly 2017 has already passed. God only knows what 2018 will bring. I keep thinking the World can't get any worse and yet things keep getting more crazy.

When you listen to world news you are tempted to get discouraged and overwhelmed like that passage in Genesis 5...

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

Or as Jesus said,

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man." ~ Luke 17:26

We can see the "signs of the times" that are leading up to the grand finale, and wonder how long will this go on before Jesus comes back to rights all the wrongs?

- The unbridled greed that has 10% or the population hoard more than 90% or the resources.
- The senseless wars for pride, money and "democracy".
- The suffering, oppression and exploitation of the defenseless.
- The twisting of truth and fabricated news that deceive and propagandize people with TV series that put evil ideas into our heads.
- Powerful nations bullying, formenting wars and selling arms to warring tribes. - Do I need to go on...?

You'd think God would want to step in and put a stop to it soon.

It also reminds me of Psalm 73 where king David laments the wickedness he sees around him...

I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;"

But then he goes on in verse 17 and says...

Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end."

God has to let the game play out. God has limited Himself to not interfere with man's free will.

So when you look at World conditions you get discouraged for sure, but as they saying goes, "the outlook may not always be easy, but the uplook is great!" - When we look at the Lord, and TO the Lord, we can take heart.

Here's something I wrote down when I was praying and looking to the Lord...

As you know, you cannot do the master's work without the master's power, and to get it you have to spend time with the master. Otherwise you will get overwhelmed by the world or overcome by the world instead of overcoming the world through Me!

Your physical strength may be diminishing, but you can make up for it by walking closer to Me. You can more than compensate for the diminishing power of the flesh by dwelling more in the spirit. 'Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.'

If you cannot find something inspiring to feed on, then turn to Me, read the Gospels and listen to the living Word. I am more ready to speak than you are to hear - remember that! I am right there ready to give you the answers, to lead and guide and show you the way, but you waste so much energy when you forget to ask.

That's pretty simple, yes? I can guarantee you that I am there when you create a vacuum for Me. I will fill all your empties. I am your answer Man, your solution giver, your strength in time of trouble and your shield in the face of any storm. Rely on Me. Trust in Me. Look to Me and you won't be disappointed.

This world will disappoint and turn you down, but at the end of the road, if you have kept the faith and held on to Me, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed and you will be so so happy that you bet on the right horse - the winning horse!"

So when all is said and done it really doesn't matter if Jesus comes back in 10, 20 or 50 years, as Jesus said to Peter, "what is that to thee? follow thou me." We'll just have to wait and see while we go about the King's business.

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." ~ Jon.16:33
