I was reading an article from Ron Paul's website, "War Profiteers Are A Sign Of A Profoundly Sick Society" written by Caitlin Johnstone.
Among other things he says, "It is no sign of health to be well-adjusted to a society in which war profiteering corporations can reap massive quarterly profits in a proxy war that was provoked by the west while pouring fortunes into think tanks which helped manufacture consent for those provocations and which spin the west’s actions in a positive light for the media."
He also included an audio book written by a decorated General, Smedley D. Butler, "War is a Racket" - I listened to the first chapter, and even if it's written long ago it is as relevant as ever.
when the world is caving in on you
when nightmares are coming true
when the big bad boys are over you
and you just don't know what to do
what you gonna do
what you gonna do
when the news makes you wanna puke
and your wish they'd get a rebuke
when warmongers are crying "nuke"
and you hope it's all a fluke
what you gonna do
what you gonna do
when the future looking black and bleak
and you don't feel like being meek
but your knees are getting kinda weak
and you can't find the peace you seek
what you gonna do
what you gonna do
How can you not get riled up over such evil? So much wickedness perpetrated to enrich a few at the cost of the many. Inequality, exploitation, indiscriminate destruction, callous manipulation with the lives of the innocent, refugees fleeing from war, corruption and crime. - All sacrifices on the altar of Mammon!
I have discovered the more I read about things like that the more anger wells up in me. You wanna do something about it, get mad, right the wrongs, fight against the injustices and expose the lies.
However the Bible says, "Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." ~ Ecclesiastics 7:9
In order to find a measure of peace in the midst of all the abuse I see around me I have to turn to Jesus.
Only by giving my anger to the Lord can I find surcease. But it takes faith. You have to believe when He promises that He will right the wrongs, He will reward the righteous and the evildoers will come to nought.
Psalm 37 help me relax, "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” ~ verse 7. I am not particularly good at "waiting patiently", but I have to try.
"For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth." ~ Psalm 37:9 It usually doesn't happen right away, but the bible promises there will eventually be a happy ending.
I can appreciate the Julian Assange's, the Edward Snowden's, Sheerpost, MintPress News, and the host of people who expose whats happening, but the more I read about it, even if many of the so-called conspiracy theories are correct, the angrier I get, and that is not very good for my spirit or for those around me.
Hence I will try to... "Cease from anger, and forsake wrath"... "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace." Psalm 37:8, 10-11
