I recently head someone say, "truth is perished!"[1] Those are strong words. It's getting increasingly difficult to judge the veracity of information, to measure its quality and truthfulness - the lines are getting blurred and it's difficult to know whats right and wrong.
What are you supposed to believe? Who can you trust? There is precious little truth in the information that is constantly being hurled at us. We know advertisement is fuelled by profit, we also know there is an agenda behind big news media, east-west, north-south, rich-poor global politics, and we are even beginning to suspect the motives behind things that look idealistic, environmental, religious or altruistic.
Finding truth is almost like looking for a needle in a haystack, and with the information overload we are facing the haystack is getting so big it becomes almost hopeless. It reminds me of that verse in Revelation 12 "And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood."[2]
They say the first casualty in a war is the truth. As illustrated by this song...

- Military planners, politicians and flag-waving journalists Turn to "Double Speak" to gloss over the horrors of war.

The language of technology is being used to make the terrifying
Uncertainties of combat sound completely pre-programmed.

A smart bomb will provide soft kill in "Double Speak",-
A body bag contains just human remains in "Double Speak".-
Even friendly fire has a kinda nice sound,
When you shoot your own men with a missile comin' down.
Just turn to "Double Speak," when your stomach is weak from the news this week.

--The enemy forces kill, destroy and terrorize,
But our boys simply take out, eliminate and neutralize.
Our soldiers are brave, highly trained professionals,
But theirs are brainwashed, ruthless terrorists.
The dictators use censorship and propaganda,

They don't bomb innocent civilians any more in "Double Speak" ["Double Speak"],
Collateral damage is just a part of war in "Double Speak" ["Double Speak"].
Surgical strike, not brutal attack,
Aggressive maneuver, not shoot 'em in the back.
Hit the bulls-eye from five miles high in "Double Speak".
On the radio and the TV shows God only knows what they're holding back.
There are magazines and movie screens, but behind the scenes are the real facts.
Gang up on the weak to support the strong,
Politically correct but morally wrong.

After I found the Lord it became clear that my world-view and understanding of truth had been flexible. When I started reading the Bible and discovered that there are such thing as absolutes, rights and wrongs, truth and lies, it was like someone put a solid foundation under my feet.[3] Not that I presume to know all truth, but I had discovered a standard or a ruler against which opinions and ideas could be measured.
I come across things that could very well be true; exposure of evil agendas, despotism, false flag operations, world domination, military and/or financial takeovers and worse, and I tend to get riled up over the injustice, deceit, greed, oppression of the innocent and atrocities being committed while truth is twisted, being eroded and is perishing!
I have discussed this at length. My conclusion, and the answer I arrived at, is based on what Jesus said to Pilate when confronted by unjust accusers in his day, "My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight." The Zealots who were fighting against Rome wanted to crown Jesus their earthly king, but He refused saying, "now is my kingdom not from hence."[4] - So do I want to become a zealot? I think not!
While it is clear that evil men and seducers are getting worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived, as Paul the apostle predicted[5], we don't need to get so worked up about all the deceipt, lies and evil we see around us. - Why? Because "there is a God in Heaven"[6] Who is watching too, "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision."[7]
Think about it! God is laughing at mans puny efforts to manipulate and control things; the kings and rulers of the earth who take counsel together and try to "cast away" Gods rules. They had better "kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and they perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little."
It's not that I think evil doesn't deserve to be exposed, and that we should meekly stand by when our neighbor is being oppressed. We do need to take action when we can, like the good Samaritan.[8] But let's not forget that "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."[9]
As one spiritual mentor said in his famous advice to a world leader, "Ours is a war to free men from the evils of the spirit and mind and heart of man which cause them to be selfish and unloving and cruel and unkind to each other because of his lack of the knowledge of the love and faith and power of God!"
So lets look up "for our redemption draweth nigh"[10] And lets share Jesus' love forgiveness and salvation with those we meet, keeping in mind that "blessed are all they that put their trust in him." (Psalm 2)
