Everybody is talking! - Everyone has an opinions and a viewpoint. It doesn't seem to matter if it measures up to honesty or decency. Truth doesn't seem to be important any longer and it looks like the World is in a moral void.
People get off on things that really aren't that important - whether it's clothes, music, name-brands, gadgets, hobbies and pastimes. I recently came upon a website called "Distractify" - How silly is that?!
Believers also argue over doctrines, such as Water Baptism, Evolution vs. Creation, Pre- or Post-Tribulation Rapture, dissecting the Trinity, Geo- or Helio-centric world views, Flat Earth, Conspiracy theories, Politics, New World Order, and what have you. (Pardon me if my karma just ran over your dogma :-) All interesting, albeit somewhat peripheral and non-essential to the salvation of man.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not against debate. I believe God has endowed us with an inquisitive mind and a natural curiosity to investigate things. We are allowed to speculate and theorize, and I can also enjoy a good discussion and some intellectual stimulation. But it's easy to loose perspective and get side-tracked, because when all is said and done... "now we see through a glass darkly, but then we shall know as we are also known!" ~ 1Cor. 13:12
There are many things we don't know, especially about the workings of the spirit world and how it interacts with us. How can we presume to think we have it all figured out? Can you capture the Holy Spirit, put it in a bottle and analyze it? - You cannot! If you try you kill it in the process. - Like that piece of prose from long ago, "My love is the wild wind" - the Holy Ghost of God is wild and free! You can chase after it, but you cannot grasp it!
There are few things we should get dogmatic about. As the song goes, "I care not what church you belong to, just so long as for Jesus you stand..." - When things get complicated I prefer to stick to the simply stuff such as, "Love God and love your neighbour" or... "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so" - beyond that it's often at best intellectuality or at worst idolatry! I'm content to leave some of those speculative issues in Gods hands.
I'm sure though that I'll have a lot of questions when I get up there ;-)
